Ok so yesterday my internet at home kept disconnecting, so I couldn't post this yesterday #rage. Sooooo this was written yesterday.
Today our group went over the final production schedule and it's mostly 3D work plus filming, no 2D. We're all pretty happy with our roles and what we need to do over the semester.
I will mainly be doing filming and editing as 3D is definitely not my strong point.

I started reading over the script with Taylor and giving her feedback and ideas on what we can change to finalize the script.
I imagine the male character as a clumsy character like Milo from Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001). He's very absorbed in his work which can be a distraction from his deceased wife. I also imagine him being quite clumsy which used to make his wife giggle. He'd be even more clumsy after his wife passed away as he'd find it hard to keep it together as if his life is crumbling down.

We also talked to our tutors about the script which needs to be finalized by Monday. We got lots of awesome feedback and ideas to throw around. At first it was a bit overwhelming, but ideas were running through my head as well which was pre exciting.
I reckon we felt more like a group as we threw ideas around to finalize the events in the script which was neat. We were really immersed which is what we need to be!

We threw a lot of ideas around for the mirror breaking. Plus slight changes. (Lots ot these points are my ideas also as ideas popped up in my head as I wrote others out).
-the wife died in an earthquake.
-the wife died in an earthquake.
-the wife looks ghostly
-The environment in the mirror isn't just the deceased wife, but also the apartment behind her, only it is clean and undamaged. (The apartment is originally damaged and run down from a past earthquake). So it has a big contrast in terms of before and after the earthquake that originally damaged the apartment.
-the mirror inside the apartment where the male is, is unaffected by the earthquake. (the earthquake that incurs inside the mirror that the wife is in.)
-the wife would look ghostly and maybe a bit transparent. I imagined her as one colour. Having full on multiple colours would make her look more alive which isn't what we really want to go for. She'd look very out of this world and more ghostly. Every time she moves they'd be a type of trail and I thought using onion skinning would look quite neat.
-we were gonna go with the wife being 3D, but to achieve a ghostly appearance and slightly slow movements we've decided to animate her in 2D. She could possibly be rotoscoped to achieve a slight uncanny vibe to her movements. Can give this a try to use some realistic movements as well. Due to this change we made a new production schedule implementing 2D animation as well as 3D environment. Cool.
-in terms of environment we didn't really think about where to film it and I think we all would've had very different ideas of what the environment would look like. Plus finding a place would be rather difficult also. SO we going with a 3D background which we can later alter once the filming is done (which would come under layout).
-the shaking in the mirror is the wife reliving the earthquake, but she is showing the man that she is ok. That she accepts it and that he should accept it too. When she died, he was worried because he didn't know if she was 'ok', if she had accepted her death and moved on.
-when the earthquake in the mirror occurs, Rather than the wife looking sad/scared,shed be smiling, showing the male that it's going to be ok.
-When the shaking ends, we were gonna have some sort of meaningful note written by the wife or a photo of the characters together. We further explored our options for this idea.
- A happy photo of the couple to remind the male of their past happiness.
-A note written by the wife (explaining that she's ok, but this would seem rather odd. like she's come back from the dead just to write him a note).
- Patrick suggested that there is a newsprint and some letters are smudged and a message appears saying 'I'm ok' or something along those lines.
- I suggested that we could combine these by having a happy picture on the couple and on the back there would be the date it was taken and where it was taken. Some letters would be smudged or faded and a message would come up saying 'I'm ok' etc.
